Remove Duplicate Rows from CSV Online: how it works
How it works
- Open the CSV and review the preview of repeated complete rows. The first occurrence remains in the table.
- Check which rows would be removed before applying. Matching uses the whole row, not a selected key column; differing fields are not treated as duplicates.
- Apply the removal as one undoable step, review the remaining rows and save only when the result is right for your handoff.
What stays exactly the same
Surviving records keep their original bytes in Preserve output, except when removing the last row adjusts the new last row's terminator to match the original final-newline style.
Preview does not mutate the document. If you apply removal, one Undo restores the previous export, including the removed records.
Limits
Files are uploaded to the cellsmith.app server and held in memory, not kept only in your browser. The web version accepts UTF-8 text files up to 32 MiB each. Files expire 30 minutes after the last activity; opening another file or restarting the server also clears the current document and unsaved work.
Questions about this tool
Can I choose columns for duplicate matching?
Not yet. This tool compares complete rows; it does not deduplicate by a chosen subset of columns.
Which copy of a repeated row is kept?
The first occurrence stays; later complete-row matches are proposed for removal.
Can I check the result before saving?
Yes. Review the preview first, then inspect the workbench after applying. Undo the removal if it was not right.
